Red Tip, Black Legs - Sphex

Red Tip, Black Legs - Sphex
Desoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
July 7, 2018
I wasn't quite sure what to do with this -- I really wasn't paying attention or being careful in the last few minutes before heading inside, so I was just kind of clicking away with my camera as I made my way through my back yard-- so I didn't get good images. I looked for the wasp in the following days by didn't see it again. It was flying at the same time as Sphex ichneumeneus, S. habenus, and S. pensylvanicus. Maybe just a strangely marked habenus?

do black legs in a female suggest S texanus? or palmodes?
it is my understanding that a female S dorsalis with the red tip would have red legs.
could this be a female S texanus with black legs or palmodes?
