A Whole Mess of Stuff

A Whole Mess of Stuff
Vancouver Stanley Park meadow, Lower Mainland, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Size: relative to Lady Beetle
This is a whole lotta stuff. I thought I was just shooting the lady beetle until I looked at the photos.

So, what are the very small little beetles in the first image? Adult and juveniles?

Secondly, is the lady beetle eating....a spider??? Can't be a spider. It looks like it has an antennae with some weird red orb on it.

Third- what is that weird red orb???

aphids
Is there any starting point you can give me for the aphids? Genus? species?

Identifying aphids from photos is tough.
The bigger aphid that is being eaten looks like it could be Uroleucon. On the smaller ones I just can't see the identifying characters, but they are definitely a different genus. If you knew what type of plant this was it might help, but it might not. Aphids usually need to be chemically cleared and slide mounted to give a definitive ID, because I usually have to look at things like the number and arrangement of sensory organs on the antennae, wing venation, shape of the cauda (tail) and how many hairs it has, hairs on other parts of the body, etc. etc. Even with a slide mounted specimen ID can still be tough or impossible. Aphids are fun.

two things here:
1) the lady beetle is Coccinella septempunctata
2) the other insects, including what is being fed on, are all aphids
