Pink-Edged Sulphur? - Colias eurytheme

Pink-Edged Sulphur? - Colias eurytheme
Gambrills, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
July 17, 2018
I think Colias interior, others say no.

Orange Sulphur female, white form
Moved from ID Request.

Not a Pink-Edged Sulphur
This is not a Pink-Edged Sulphur (Colias interior). Don't be fooled by the pink edges of the wings - other species have pink edges. Look at the spot on the hind wing. Your butterfly has two spots - a large spot and a smaller spot. Pink-Edged Sulphurs only have a single spot.

I am not great at differentiating Orange Sulphur (Colias eurytheme) from Clouded Sulphur (Colias philodicE), but I believe your butterfly is one of them - I think a female Orange Sulphur.

Sulphur
Thanks very much, Bill. I have just compared photos of the orange and the clouded on EOL and elsewhere. I can't decide either, so I'll caption it to give viewers a choice. I appreciate your time!
