Looking for clear, definite confirmation on type and sex of this black widow - Latrodectus - Female

Size: Gold dollar coin size
This is one of many black widows I have found this year around our house and even in the windows of our enclosed back porch here in East Kentucky. The first one found this year was the largest I have ever seen and was found by my eight year old nephew who was almost sitting on it and poking at its web with a stick before he noticed the red on it and brought it to my attention,(Very Scary!) I have searched the Internet trying to get information about this spider but was never able to come up with anything clear and definite about breed or sex.I believe there should be more definite information about these spiders and a whole lot easier to obtain information without having to do the guesswork. I was almost thinking this was a male black widow of some type until #1 Tonight while spraying perimeter bug spray I run across another one very large with an unreal number of babies crawling around it telling me that this is a female and #2 I found some information on this particular site which said that this was a Southern Black Widow.I am still unsure as to whether this is a southern black widow or another breed of black widow can you help me on this and also I would like to see some better pictures of the male and the female of all breeds Black Widow spiders living in my state with approximate sizes and wouldPlease like to know can these spiders be fatal to humans or pets and are they very aggressive? Sincerely, Sincerely, Concerned in East Kentucky

Probably L. variolus.

Dorsal
markings on this one and other are typical of L. variolus.
Hourglass can be unreliable as both mactans and variolus can have a complete, partial, or absent marking.

....
A general rule to go by: southern widows have a complete hourglass mark. northern widows have a broken hourglass. southern widows are commonly found around human habitations, northern widows not-so-much.
