Ammophila aberti? - Ammophila aberti

Ammophila aberti? - Ammophila aberti
Adobe Creek Reservoir, Kiowa County, Colorado, USA
July 14, 2018

Menke (2020)
Menke's (2020) key notes A. aberti as having a distinctively elongate propodeum. This helps separate it from similar members, such as of the urnaria- and azteca-groups. Another point of species recognition is the presence of silvery, appressed setae in the scutal fossae. Size is also typically useful with these as Menke notes that similar species are generally smaller.
