Questions
Ken,

You had id'd both of my pictures as male Calico Pennants but there seem to be interesting differences between the two, at least to me, like:

1. One has long slender wings while the other one has shorter, wider wings especially the hind wings.

2. The one with the long slender wings has a reddish spot at the base of the hind wings whereas the one with the shorter, wider wings has no spot and the hind wings seem to be completely transparent.

As a previous engineer, I'm looking for some uniformity in identification. Are differences like this common among a group of the same type ??

Thank you.

Questions
I had put any shape difference in the wings down to angle of view - could be mistaken, of course.
I see dark bases to hindwings in both of your dragonflies. A little harder to see in the one because the body of the insect is showing behind the wing.

Thank you.
Thank you.
