Earwig maybe? - Elytrimitatrix undata

Earwig maybe? - Elytrimitatrix undata
Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 23, 2018
Size: Body is a little over 1in
Son found this in the kitchen. I'm having zero luck figuring out what exactly it is. Couldn't decide if it's an earwig or not. We had bought produce the last couple of days, some was from an international store. Don't want to release it outside until I know it isn't a hitchhiker that doesn't belong here. Sidenote: the red thing from its hind-end was only out for a minute or so and was wiggling around. I'm so confused...
