Moth - Glyphidocera dimorphella

Moth - Glyphidocera dimorphella
Block Island, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
July 23, 2018
This is only my second sighting(1) of this unknown species. While standing at the sheet, I saw a small moth fly horizonatally, parallel to the sheet, and knocked it down with my hand to keep it from flying away. I was running out of jars and vials and had none in hand, so I caught only a brief glimpse of the moth on my palm before it flew off. I was fairly sure I recognized it as a mysterious gelechioid from last summer, so I stayed at the sheet an extra 15 or 20 minutes in the hope it would return. I didn’t see it again, so I turned off the light and packed up. Shortly after arriving at the other sheet, I had to put a few vials in the cooler. Much to my surprise, I found this little moth resting on the bottom between some vials! I quickly shut the cooler, freed up a vial by consolidating specimens, and captured what I can only assume was the same moth from the other sheet.
