Size: 9 mm
Collected beating fairly fresh, fallen Pinus ponderosa (estimate less than 1 month old). Distinguished from other species of Eutrichillus by the following combination of characters: erect setae present only on elytra; gena longer than lower eye lobe above it; antennae with basal segments biannulate; elytra with distinct, angulate, lateral vitta behind middle.

This is good. I spent an hour or so the other day trying to "see" the characters for E. canescens on a couple of E. pini I have from the Onion Saddle area. This makes sense now. Thanks for the correction.

This is actually E. pini
Upon further evaluation and consultation with Jim Wappes, this is apparently the closely related E. pini. These species are very similar and the characters distinguishing them are not very clear.
