Red and Green Katydid - Orchelimum vulgare - female

Red and Green Katydid - Orchelimum vulgare - Female
Cass County, Texas, USA
November 9, 2007
Size: 1" (24mm)
Another Katydid that I have not been able to ID.

This one is definitely O. vulgare
Color varies a lot, but the morphology is that of O. vulgare. Also, as far as I know, O. minor is not found in Texas; perhaps not even in Louisiana.

Could it be
A female Common Meadow Katydid (Orchelimum vulgare)?

Katydid Id
Thanks John. It sure looks like the examples you showed. I will move it to the guide.

Lee

We should also consider
Orchelimum minor (Lesser Pine Katydid) (because of the orange legs).
