Size: under 3mm length
attracted to UV light in suburban back yard, photo taken 11pm. Eye cups are white, all other light colored spots in photo are of shiny silver color. Passive behavior, let me get close in for shots, did not fly off in when viewed with dim flashlight.

I can't find listings for CA but I have seen a few of these in the last year at my UV light.
