One of many species of stunning wasps visiting this money buckwheat (Eriogonum nummulare). Desert valley. I photographed a number of species, another very similar to this without the red dot behind eye - and many more. Probably should have collected to get a better grasp, as it seemed remarkable. 12 - 15 species or so, most unfamiliar to me, in freshly opened flowers
