I've collected this location often each year for many years and and this is the only specimen I've found or I would submit a better specimen to add CA to the Diastata map in BugGuide.

Important characters from Manual of Nearctic Diptera (1)
- Wing ==================
- Costa extending to M1+2.
- Costa spinose, bristles short and extending nearly to wing tip.
- Both humeral and subcostal breaks present.
- Subcosta incomplete, joining with Radius-1 before Radius-1 reaches costa.
- Wing with whitish spots and darker spots.
- Anal cell present and short.

- Head ======================
- Arista short-plumose.
- Ocellar bristles present.

- Scutellum with a flattened bare disc with 2 pair of bristles.
- Katepisternum with one strong bristle and 1 or 2 weaker bristles.

- Legs ===================
- Fore femur (on apical half of anterior ventral surface) with a comb of short stout setae (ctenidium).
- Fore femur (on posterior ventral and dorsal surfaces) with several bristles.
