very gray G-hopper - Dissosteira carolina - Female
Crescent Lake, White Mountains, Apache County, Arizona, USA

Size: ~30-35mm
Crescent Lake is about 9500 ft in elevation. Found this one on a dirt trail around the lake. So uniformly gray-brown, I originally tagged it as "Bland G-hopper" any IDeas?

Carolina grasshopper.
In flight, this should have shown black hindwings with a pale border. The species just gets into Arizona (it is absent this far south in Tucson).

Eric - I need to get into the habit of checking out the hopper's wing color - I keep forgetting. If memory serves, its wings were as you suggested.
