caterpillars - Arge

caterpillars - Arge
Marlborough Township, montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 4, 2018
Size: ~1 inch
These caterpillars were in a defensive stance but idk if they were reacting to me specifically. They didn't move at all. Even when I left them alone for a while then came back they still hadn't moved.

Sawfly Larvae
They might be young Elm Argid Sawfly larvae, Arge scapularis. What is the plant?

Sawfly Larvae
They were on a tree that had oblate leaves with serrated edges. I'm sorry. I'm totally not up on my dendrology.
