Rose eating beetle - Diabrotica undecimpunctata

Rose eating beetle - Diabrotica undecimpunctata
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
November 16, 2007
Little beetle is eating my roses. Isn't this some kind of cucumber beetle?

Spotted Cucumber Beetle
Diabrotica undecimpunctata, compare here.

Nice shot
I think it's the immatures that eat cucumbers. (I know that's the case with moth and butterfly names.)

Thanks for the ID and comment
Thanks for the ID and cpmment about the little ones being the cucumber eaters. Seems like I've never seen a cucumber beetle on a cucumber.. Should have called them pollen beetles.

Most of them I've seen have been at a small farm.
It's called Incredible Edible Park, sponsored by the City of Irvine and an electric utility, among others. It's chock full o' produce, but the beetles are always found on flowers, typically composite.
