BG1149 D1240 - Megistocera longipennis - Female
Baton Rouge, window of coffee shop on College Drive near Perkins Road, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
September 3, 2007
Size: body length 13.3 mm.
We have spent many interesting hours with Dr. Chen Young’s keys, and occasionally made some progress. I am afraid that it will take many more hours of study to unravel the mysteries of the branches of the subcosta!
This specimen is not one of our successes. The antennae appear to have 8 segments with a bit of a plume on the terminal segment. It also has a green area on the underside of the abdomen. The genitalia are different from anything that we have seen. It appears to run to couplet 6, but then the number of antennal segments and state of the branches of Sc bring us to a halt.
Proper placement would be appreciated.
Gayle
