I know the genus, in this case, by appearance of the head and antennae and shape of the wings. By typing in the genus in the search located in the upper right hand corner of the page, I was able to peruse Idaea and locate the species that is closest in appearance with your photo. I then checked the data page to determine range and time of year that the moth is active to corroborate.
