Euschistus - Euschistus strenuus - male

Euschistus - Euschistus strenuus - Male
Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, USA
August 17, 2018
Easily the smallest Euschistus I've come across (assuming I'm not being fooled by the genus here). This was swept from an area behind my house where monsoon rains pool for a short period each summer. The pools have dried up at this point, but the moisture has resulted in a bunch of tall grasses. I swept several Mecidea and one Pentatomid that I think was Moromorpha tetra. Gonna have to go back out the rest of the summer and see what else I can find. This guy flew off while I was shooting, but I think I got a couple of half-decent shots.

Seems like E. inflatus is the only one on bugguide so far for New Mexico but the wing membranes seem to eliminate that. Maybe obscurus?

Awesome
I'll have to keep an eye out for these this year.
