Reddish brown dragonfly - Sympetrum corruptum

Reddish brown dragonfly - Sympetrum corruptum
Lake Corpus Christi, san patricio County, Texas, USA
November 4, 2007
Please help to identify. Thank you!

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies.

looks like corruptum (Variegated Meadowhawk)
Abdomen looks fairly patterned, although faded and I see what appears to be a dark streak at the end. That should eliminate anything similar according to Abbott, who does list Cardinal for Texas, but apparently only a single record from the far western corner.

It has a Sympetrum look to it,
but this is a tough angle to see anything. Was it small? An approximate size would help. There appears to be some color in the wing veins. Maybe Cardinal or Red-veined if they get down there. Perhaps one of the Texas Odonatologists will recognize it for you.
