Note that Gorgone has distinctive arrow head markings
on the ventral hindwing and has no white crescents in the submarginal dorsal hindwing border. Also checkerspots usually have an intact outer spot at the dorsal forewing trailing edge rather than a broken or hollow spot as with most crescents.
