Empress Leilia - Asterocampa leilia

Empress Leilia - Asterocampa leilia
Patagonia Lake State Park, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
August 12, 2018
Size: 3/4-1 inch
My twin brother and I were taking the trail out of the northern picnic are of Patagonia Lake State Park when I observed a butterfly resting on a log with the wings in a closed position. Researching Jeffrey Glassberg's Butterflies through Binoculars of the West I determined that it was an Empress Leilia.
