Pyrausta augustalis
Thanks for the ID and info, Bob. Moved from Pyrausta to new species page.

5041 - Pyrausta augustalis
The range given in MONA Fascicle 13.2b (1976) is "Texas, from Brownsville and Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge to Sinton and San Antonio; south through Mexico to Central America." Similar species occur in southern Mexico and Guatemala. Note the lack of am. line found in 5040, and the almost straight meeting of orange/yellow with the dark outer wing area seen here as opposed to the much more wavy condition found in all examples of 5040. A nice new species for the guide.
