Setup # 2 (outdated version)
Nogales, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
September 3, 2018
This setup gives me acceptable results for lateral views of large bugs, but it is more challenging to take dorsal shots with it because I have to position the bug across the shorter side of the image (specimen placed vertically in a "landscape-oriented" photo). Otherwise, one side of the bug will be much darker that the other. Later, I have to heavily crop the sides of the images.
Two "Vello Mini Softboxes" provide one layer of diffusion by covering the flash heads. Additional light diffusion is achieved by using a cushion foam sheet.
