Large Paectes - Paectes abrostoloides? - Paectes abrostoloides
Pacific Beach, San Diego County, California, USA

Wanted to make sure I am on the right track here with Paectes abrostoloides versus abrostolella. Been catching a number examples here in San Diego to mercury vapor. Black marks forewing apex seem to indicate abrostoloides? Appreciate feedback.

You might want to collect these when you find them. I agree with your iNat post that this must be a recent introduction.

Two species Paectes
Hi Bob, thanks for help with these Paectes. There seems to be two different species of Paectes turning up in my mercury vapor trap right now. This is the second species, brown in color, larger black marks in forewing apex and with golden brown color of darker hindwing.

You confirmed my impression about the first species a few days ago as Paectes declinata in a previous ID request. It is grayer colored, no large black marks in forewing apex, hindwing with pale cream-white color and black veins. I believe also bit smaller in size than this browner colored species.
