Cerambycinae in wood wasp trap - Xylotrechus sagittatus
Atlanta Airport, clayton County, Georgia, USA
September 18, 2007
Size: 13 mm
Found in a Syrex Trap on the Atlanta Airport. Appears to have markings of the Xylotrechus arrow head beetle. I feel comfortable with the subfamily but the genus does not come out when i use the Turnbow & Thomas Key.

Xylotrechus sagittatus
Xylotrechus and Neoclytus may be easily separated by observing the frontal furrows, not visible in these pictures.
However, Neoclytus usually have longer legs, especially the posterior ones.
I think your specimen is a male of Xylotrechus sagittatus sagittatus (Germar, 1821).

Neoclytus?
Neoclytus is at least superficially similar to Xylotrechus....The fact it was intercepted at the airport means you have to allow the possibility this is something exotic, too. Hope not, but you never know:-)
