The side of the face looks much more like the Leucania pictured on page 506 of Owlets, so if we were to choose, we would choose Leucania, but... :(

We tried,
but we can't see how to tell Mythimna oxygala pg 508 from Leucania ursula pg 509. Not sure what we saw before when we moved images to Leucania, but we're not seeing it now. Maybe it's too late in the day :)

I did find in the Guide a cat that looked very similar to this one that you guys had ID,d in 2013 as Mythimna unipuncta and it is Photo#845766. Sorry, I've never learned to do a thumbnail in BG ):
I do appreciate your searching and realize that sometimes Nature's mysteries remain just that!

Not Geometridae - too many pair of abdominal prolegs
This would be a Noctuid such as Mythimna or Leucania. Will try to track it down
