In the field was thinking it a mud dauber but now not sure perhaps spider wasp

The hind tibiae are smooth edged, the wings have a pocket in the discal cell and the abdomen tip is very hairy.
This might be a female in the genus Anoplius, but I'm not sure of the species. Hold on for an expert.

the spines on the foretarsus are very weak, so very likely Anoplius virginiensis.

I agree that it's a spider wasp, and I don't see any tarsal combs on the front legs, but I'd wait for an expert for further ID.
