Hepialidae: Gazoryctra novigannus - Gazoryctra novigannus

Hepialidae: Gazoryctra novigannus - Gazoryctra novigannus
Spokane, Willow Springs, DHC, Spokane County, Washington, USA
September 15, 2018
Size: Length ~ 1.7 cm
This specimen may be an atypical example of Gazoryctra novigannus (0029), according to Lars Crabo (pers. comm., 15 September 2018). Attention Dave Wagner.

Lars writes (15 Sep 2018): "I have been calling most Gazoryctra that look like yours G. novigannus. Turns out that they vary geographically, both in appearance in DNA barcodes. Figuring out how many species there are will probably involve amassing lots of material and seeing if there are areas in which two forms/haplotypes overlap. Right now, my gut is that there is one variable species."
