Size: 5/8"
Flying around a large open mulch pile ONLY. At least a dozen were present. Occasionally would land and if touched would try to bury itself under debris. Not aggressive. 80 deg. Cloudy. 12pm.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I had a hunch about them seeking out grubs but had never noticed them before. We have an infestation of grubs in our flower gardens this year and have always had them in the mulch pile. Glad they're beneficial and that I didn't harm any.
Have not seen any wasp in the flower gardens, just the mulch pile. I noticed the grubs in the mulch are much larger than the grubs in the flower garden.
