I was wondering what this guy was called. I've got a whole series of pictures I took this past summer of this fella and never got around to submitting them anywhere because I just couldn't figure out who he was. For some reason I thought he was a juvenile since his wings didn't seem fully developed. Now, I know better.

Kinda like the Sawfly I found a while back that I thought was some fierce hornet.

Good to hear from you, Greg. You sound like me when I was a kid. But in those days there were no books on the subject in the local library and adults thought the only good insect was a dead one. Never dreamed of something like the Internet and especially BugGuide. What a wonderful resource it is.
