Size: apx. 22mm long
Hoping for a species placement. More photographs available.

Noticed on a brick window ledge about 4PM. Edwards Plateau/South Texas Brush vegetation. House overlooks a river bluff. We have had the Texas Iron Clad Beetle here, but this one does not look anything like it to me.

I had a hard time photographing the antenna and the small protrusions beneath them. They were rarely displayed.

Concolor is my guess...
But I'm not well versed enough with this genus to give you a definite species ID, I'll leave that to the experts. :)

Thank you. I have a beetle expert coming on Monday and will see what he says. Stay tuned. Having seen the "Texas Iron Clad" I thought this one was very different.

There are a lot of plain black Zopherus, from what I can tell it seems texture of the pronotums and elytra are the main differences between them all, (and of course the male genitalia I assume).
