Clark's Sphinx (Proserpinus clarkiae)
I might suggest instead that this is a Clark's Sphinx (Proserpinus clarkiae). The black upperwing patches and black hindwing margins (distal to the orange patches) point to that species instead, on top of the fact that Clark’s Sphinx is a common native North American species where the former is a rare vagrant / escape.
