yellow & green wasp - Mesopolobus - male

yellow & green wasp - Mesopolobus - Male
near Sky High off Hwy 4, Calaveras County, California, USA
November 26, 2007
Size: 2mm
Emerged from huckleberry oak leaf collected on November 24, 2007 (two days prior to taking this photo).

Perhaps a parasitoid of a moth larva that was in the leaf? I'm not sure who was in the leaf prior to the wasp's appearance... Also I'm not sure if the wasp would have normally emerged at this time of year if it hadn't been collected and brought indoors.

Many leaf miners
There are many types of insects that are leafminers: flies, beetles, moths, etc. Knowing the host (huckleberry oak) will hopefully help you get an ID on at least the leafminer if not the parasitoid. Great series.

maybe if I'm really lucky...
...I'll get the leafminer out of one of the other leaves I brought home.
