Seed head feeder - Phytomyza anemonivora

Seed head feeder - Phytomyza anemonivora
Walking Iron County Park, Mazomanie, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
September 21, 2018
In Anemone (virginiana?).
Maybe Phytomyza anemonivora(1)?

Moved
Moved from Unidentified Tracks, Sign, and Other Mysteries.

Probably; P. atripalpis also feeds in Anemone seedheads but is only known from British Columbia.

Something else to look for!
There was a time not long ago that Phytomyza anemonivora was only known from Canada.

True enough!
That species was only known from Ontario before you reared it in Minnesota. Canada is a little fuzzy in terms of eastern vs. western species--there are definitely some "eastern" leafminers that get as far west as Alberta or British Columbia--so P. atripalpis isn't out of the question in your area.
