Harpalus pensylvanicus
Bill sent me this specimen, and I've confirmed that it is H. pensylvanicus. I dissected this male to make sure it wasn't actually a northern coastal occurrence of the very similar H. texanus, and alas it was not! It will be interesting to see if that species starts occurring further north as average temperatures rise.

Thanks, Curt!
Bummer it wasn't something cooler, but always nice to document anything new on a barrier island (new for Assateague per our data so far). I saw a carabid on Block Island, RI this weekend and had my hands full unfortunately.
