Syrphid with Striped Thorax - Helophilus fasciatus - male

Syrphid with Striped Thorax - Helophilus fasciatus - Male
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
September 22, 2018
Found at the park on an Aster, next to some Black-eyed Susans and Lavender. It was overcast, and within seconds of finding it, rain started to fall.

Going by the eye gap, I believe it to be a female.

Helophilus fasciatus .... male
Helophilus fasciatus .... male.
In Helophilus both sexes are dichoptic (eyes separated on frons). In the male, the inner margins of eyes are more or less parallel for a long distance whilst the female widens almost immediately from base. Also look at the genital capsule in the other image.
The reddish first two segments of antennae separate this to fasciatus.
