Female Meadowhawk - Sympetrum - Female

Looks like Sympetrum internum, female, but most individuals I see in the guide have some coloration in the wings

Moved from ID Request.

Female Sympetrum sp.
With those black diamonds on the side of the abdomen and the red face, it is either S. internum or S. rubicundulum. Would need to see the subgenital plates to be sure.

And vicinum is ruled out by the black legs?

Female Sympetrum sp.
The black legs eliminate Sympetrum vicinum. According to Odonata Central, both S. rubicundulum and S. internum have been reported in Massachusetts. There is some history of those species hybridizing in the east as well.

internum vs rubicundulum
Are the two species known to cohabitate? And can you rule out vicinum? This lady shot nearby - https://bugguide.net/node/view/1596814 - seems to have the black diamonds and a reddish nose. I see from the maps that internum has been seen in MA, while rubicundulum hasn't. However, I Naturalist has 3 sightings in the Boston area, and I see eol has 6 in the Boston area and one in Topsfield. Too bad these orgs don't share their data.

OC
For Odonata, Odonata Central is probably the best single source of range information for North and South America. Some states have their own surveys that would have even better data (WI for example). Not sure if something like that exists in MA.
