I am not aware whether all wasps with long ovipositors are ichneumonids or not. From the side view, you can see a lighter color on the ventral part of the abdomen. Does anyone know if there's a special reason for that? I've seen the same thing on a much, much smaller insect, seen here:



Found on a dry leaf in the park in the middle of a disc golf course around 3:30PM.
