Size: 6mm
very small "crab-like" spider. To the naked eye it appeared to be sold black. found near the ground on a rotting log.

One of the Bark Crab Spiders,
One of the Bark Crab Spiders, perhaps? Here's an example, although it's not necessarily this species in particular:

If not one of those, I'd vote for one of the Ground Crab Spiders, but I'm not really good at the eight legs, so wait for more expert advice.
