Reared from larva. Unfortunately, I had several larva types in same rearing contaner and didn't know which the pupa came from.

This is the sole species in this genus for North America
according to Marshall.

Cantharidae?
My first thought is that this is a soldier beetle of some kind, but if so it is quite unique! Second opinion, anyone?

I have added other images of this beetle to see if that helps, including one freshly emerged from pupa. Note the transparent pronotal margin visible in the enlargements.
