Monarch Caterpillar Outlier Patter - Danaus plexippus

Monarch Caterpillar Outlier Patter - Danaus plexippus
freeport, cumberland County, Maine, USA
October 9, 2018
The season is just closing for monarch hatching. This is one of the last caterpillars about to change in to a chrysalis.
It has an unusually dark stripping instead of the normal white stripes. Is this significant?

My experience with Monarch cats is that they become
dark late in the fall and with cooler temps.
