Gloveria sphingiformis Caterpillars - Gloveria sphingiformis

Gloveria sphingiformis Caterpillars - Gloveria sphingiformis
1.3 Miles NW of Camp Wood, Edwards County, Texas, USA
March 15, 2016
5th instar caterpillar. This caterpillar was from the eggs posted here in August of 2015. The caterpillars stayed on tree all winter. When the tree had lost most of it's leaves I added some oak catkins to the sleeve hoping that they would utilize them when they ran out of leaves. They must have done so, because the two males pupated in the catkins at the bottom of the sleeve.
