Tolype dayi - Male
Green Mountain Rd., 4.2 km NE of Hwy. 3A, Okanagan-Similkameen, British Columbia, Canada

The photo shows a typical Tolype dayi male that came to my lights (i put it under the genus name, as there is no species page for it and i don't know how to make one). It is one of the 2 species of Tolype found in BC (the other being T. laricis). This year it was extremely abundant. I had hundreds of males coming to my lights but not a single female. It is very similar to T. distincta, however, T. distincta does not occur in BC. T. laricis is smaller and much darker.

There are about a dozen
unidentified Tolype images on the genus page. Can you lend your expertise and add comments to them to help with the identification? -- And then afterwards you could slowly work your way back up the taxonomy to Moths in general where hundreds of images are languishing!! ;)
