Nebria pallipes - female

Nebria pallipes - Female
Sidney, 44.4290, -69.7017, Kennebec County, Maine, USA
September 15, 2018
Size: 12 mm
Common under gravel and small stones along the Kennebec River. Found alongside less abundant Nebria lacustris. Nebria pallipes usually has a pair of dark reddish spots on the head but I have seen specimens missing these spots. The two species are best separated by Nebria lacustris having mid-lateral setae on the pronotum.
