My guess would be Culiseta incidens based on the curving proboscis and the white at the base of the hind femora. Do you have a dorsal shot? The patterned wings are a dead giveaway for incidens.

Alas, no. The critter was all the way at the top of one side of my house. I was reaching up with my camera above my head as it was. :(
No way to shoot different angles.

I keep making guesses on these mosquitoes and not even landing close. Argh. :)

Cs. incidens. Popular west coast mosquitoes.

Here is a hint Kevin, next time you look at a mosquito, look at the tip of the abdomen. If it is pointed then its Aedes, Ochlerotatus or Psoropora. If it is blunt like in your photo then it is probably either Culex or Culiseta (among other choices).
