Similar animals appear among the potter and mason wasps, though this one's abdomen seems smaller and simpler than others shown. Help?

Gastrodynerus
. I am having second thoughts on this wasp. It is not G. vanduzeei, the only species of Gastrodynerus known from the U.S., neither does it match the two species that have been described from Mexico. There are some Parancistrocerus species with similar second abdominal segment, and this is what this wasp likely is.

First, your consideration in placing this wasp did not go unnoticed despite my lack of response, since I knew I had photos from this year of what I think must be the same species in the same location, and wanted to post them for your consideration. They seem to show a feature or two that last year's didn't, while appearing--to me at least--still to fit in
