Argiope? with mystery smaller spider (Grandview Nature Preserve in Hampton, VA on 10/13) - Argyrodes

Found this pair of spiders together about 5 pm in some woods adjacent to a saltwater marsh and a saltwater beach (Chesapeake Bay). The temperature was in the upper 60s. The larger spider (I've seen them before, I think it might be called an Argiope) was perfectly still, and the smaller one (which I've never seen before) was moving slowly and seemed to be paying attention to the wrapped-up object being held by the larger spider. I've never seen the smaller spider before, and I thought it was a juvenile when I first saw it, but now I am not sure, and I am curious to find out what it is.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Moved here for now
Moved from Spiders.

Yes, the large spider is Argiope aurantia
The smaller spider is an Argyrodes

a thief! Sneaking in to feed on the larger spider's prey.
