spider - Araneus marmoreus

spider - Araneus marmoreus
Houston County Lake, Crockett, Houston County, Texas, USA
December 2, 2007
Size: size of a small mushroom
It was suggested this may be an orb weaver spider. Any other more specific ideas would be appreciated.

Moved from Araneus.

Not an expert
The body color seems to be similar to a Marbled Orb Weaver (Araneus marmoreus), but the body pattern is kind of like a Shamrock Spider (Araneus trifolium)(except with the white dots filled with orange), but the upper leg color is right back to Marbled Orb Weaver. Maybe an expert can comment. I believe female.

Thank you so much for the information. I will check it out.

Marbled orb weaver.
The previous ID is absolutely correct. Nice female specimen!
