Moved from
Unidentified Leaf Mines
.
Has to be, but none are known from
Robinia
. Another one to keep an eye on! (And now I have to go and edit the Fabaceae chapter I just finished!)
I'd love to borrow this one to get a close look at it.

Sure thing--I'll send it to you in the next package. I anticipated that you might want that. Any chance you might know in what season to look for them? I live so far from this site that I don't have the opportunity to get there often.

Season
Not really--my only experience with
Acalyptris
on Fabaceae (besides in the Southwest) is finding empty mines on
Desmodium
and

in Missouri in early July. So I guess it would be good to look pretty early in the season.
Erik van Nieukerken has a lot of these barcoded, so any time you find a dead larva it's worth collecting; we might be able to get an ID that way.

The mine that you didn't photograph...
has a dead larva in it, so if you don't mind I'll send that one to Erik to see if he can barcode it. I can return the other leaf to you.
Also, can you give me approximate coordinates for this collection?

That would be really cool--feel free to send it on. Here are approximate coordinates: 35.145923, -79.370026 (I'd give a wide margin of error, but I collected within a few 100 meters of that).
